Floristry
It is a hobby, it is an outlet and it is a job. Our floristry
class students
have enrolled primarily to get an out-of-their-home activity.
However, for
many of them, their tension release has become a full-fledged
goal.
Our classes' arrangements have adorned United Way functions,
Miami-
Dade County Public Schools banquets and many other countywide
events. Some learners have acquired jobs in local floral jobs
because of
their talents.
Guitar
More than a musical instrument, the guitar is entertaining and
fun. We
offer classes at various times to suit your hectic schedule.
Come join us and
a wonderful and experienced teacher will lead you to truly
relaxing entertainment.
Flower metal
Throughout time, metal has been used in many ways and forms.
Here at
The English Center, our students are able to use it to decorate
their
homes. Instructors will provide you with skills and abilities
needed to give
metal a new appeal. It also gives the learners opportunities
to
create wonderful and inexpensive gifts for family and friends.
Pergamino
The history of Parchment craft dates back to the 14th century,
the
early days of written text. The craft began with communion
cards and devotional pictures in Europe and the Netherlands,
where the Catholic influence was quite prominent. All the cards
were
done by hand in the 14th century but the advent of the printing
press
in the 15th century made mass printing possible. Biblical themes
were the
most prominent and this continued through the 18th century.
At this time,
the cards became larger and decorative borders done by hand
were
added, reviving the handwork and introducing the wavy borders
and perforations with which we are now familiar.
Piano
Taught by a seasoned professional, our piano classes are a joy
for young
ones and their parents. The student's progress can be seen
almost immediately. If you and/or your child have ever wanted
to learn to
play this instrument, now is the time. Here at The English Center
you can
make your dreams come true.
Yoga
What is YOGA?
The word yoga,
from the Sanskrit word yuj means to yoke or bind and is often
interpreted as "union" or a method of discipline. A male who
practices yoga is called a yogi, a female practitioner, a yogini.
The
Indian sage Patanjali is believed to have collated the practice
of yoga into the Yoga Sutra an estimated 2,000 years ago. The
Sutra is a collection of 195 statements that serves as a philosophical
guidebook for most of the yoga that is practiced today. It also
outlines eight limbs of yoga: the yamas (restraints), niyamas
(observances), asana (postures), pranayama (breathing), pratyahara
(withdrawal of senses), dharana (concentration), dhyani (meditation),
and samadhi (absorption). As we explore these eight limbs, we
begin by refining our behavior in the outer world, and then
we focus inwardly until we reach samadhi (liberation, enlightenment).

Nothing can be more relaxing and stress relieving than a yoga
class.
This session, which has been offered at our Center for many
years,
always includes the "die-hard" group. The veteran members of
our class
are those that know the benefits of yoga. Be one of the few,
the proud,
and the yoga practitioners. Those individuals those are able
to become
better persons physically and emotionally because of their yoga
training.
Photography
The student will
learn how to use the Camera using the right combination of aperture,
shutter speed and lighting to produce the picture in the right
manner.
