This introductory
course will train students the basic skills to operating a
personal computer. This course provides introduction to users
and newcomers to the new technological world we live in today.
The course includes Microsoft Office and Keyboarding. The
requirements for this course are to complete all Microsoft
Office activities and a typing speed of 25 WPM. Once the completion
of the course you will receive a certificate acknowledging
you as a certified Microsoft trainee. 3.5 Months.
Digital Design I
InDesign/PageMaker 7
This is a course in page layout that covers the basics
for setting up a publication such as a brochure, magazine
or newspaper. It includes a basic understanding of typography
and how to combine photographs and graphics created in other
programs.
Digital Design II
Photoshop

Covers photo editing tools such as tonal adjustments, hues
and saturation plus the use of scanners. The students learn
to paint original artwork totally from scratch on the computer
as well as to create composites and collages. The proper use
of selection tools and the effective use of levels along with
neat tricks with lots of filters help the graduates meet their
goals to work in the graphic arts field.
Digital Design III
CorelDRAW 10.0
Teaches how to use drawing tools on the computer to simulate
most of the tools artists would use manually. But it goes
beyond by giving the ability to apply several more effects
such as extruding, blending, colorizing and embossing. The
course encourages the students to be creative and develop
their potential as artists. Students also learn to merge photographs
with their drawings, and how to prepare artwork for both the
Web and the printed page.
Digital Design IV
Illustrator 10
Illustrator is the defacto standard in the professional graphic
arts field for computerized drawing programs. The course includes
instruction on how to merge photos with drawings, how to apply
special effects, special brushes and all the artistic filters
necessary for a professional drawing program. It is ideal
for creating Web graphics as well as for print.
Digital Design V
QuarkXPress 4.0
This is also a page layout program that covers the basics
of how to set up everything from a business card to a 900-page
book. It covers details for the professional as to the use
of text for effective presentation, and how to integrate text
and graphics for a final product. This is generally accepted
as the program of choice for the serious designer.
Digital Design VI
Premiere 6.0
Covers how to edit digital video or film. Topics covered include:
digital video editing; basic editing; transitions; audio;
additional editing techniques; creating a title; superimposing;
motion; and subclips and virtual clips.
Digital Design VII
Advanced Digital Design
This
class teaches the student to combine all the skills learned
in previous classes in order to produce “live”
jobs. Strong emphasis is placed on good typography and proper
design. Set in a “working environment,” the student
learns how to bring together all the elements of a publication
to produce the final printed piece. TEC Talk, the official
school newspaper of The English Center, is produced in this
class.
Our programs are instructor led, and are designed as hands-on
workshops in small groups. Our dedicated team of instructors
together brings more than 200 years of experience, in the
fields of professional training, software applications, manufacturing,
design and production. Our focus is on intensive
technology-based job skills training. In an effort to accommodate
varying study schedules, TEC offers day, half day, weekend
and evening classes.
